1. NASHVILLE
The Gaylord Opryland Hotel has been a mainstay attraction in Nashville for decades. The “Ice” show is back this year after a two-year hiatus, making it one of the “must do” activities in the area. If you enjoy viewing the beauty of Christmas displays, the Gaylord Opryland resort was listed by Travel + Leisure magazine as one of the best Christmas light displays in the country.
If you enjoy listening to the strains of Christmas carols, you may want to check out the Christmas dinner show at the Gaylord Opryland hotel, as the Grammy-award winning group the Oak Ridge Boys are putting on a “Christmas in Tennessee” event November 25th through December 25th.
Another thrilling musical experience would be to attend the “Music City Christmas” that is performed by the Nashville Symphony December 15-18 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The performance is sure to be unforgettable, and a treat for the ears.
2. MURFREESBORO

Murfreesboro is the place to be for the annual Holiday Market that takes place in early December. This is an indoor family oriented Holiday Market, complete with over SIXTY local vendors. Shop small businesses and shop local to help fellow folks from Tennessee! And did I mention the FOOD!? You can stroll through the market and grab some scrumptious food while listening to the strains of Christmas tunes. This event caters to families with FREE admission and giveaways. The Holiday Market is located at Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro.
3. FRANKLIN
Would you like to experience the traditions of a Victorian Christmas? If this is the case, you will want to head over to Franklin, Tennessee. This year ushers in the 37th Annual Dickens Of A Christmas which is nestled in the downtown area of Franklin. This year’s dates are December 10th and 11th. Historic downtown Franklin will host over 100,000 visitors to this event every year, making it the largest Christmas outdoor Christmas celebration in middle Tennessee.
4. HENDERSONVILLE
If you love spending time boating, the Christmas Boat Parade in Hendersonville will be an event you won’t want to miss. This festive event includes a parade and food vendors. You can even enter your own watercraft to participate in the parade; just don’t forget to add the lights and special Christmas magic!
5. CANNONSBURGH VILLAGE AND CHEEKWOOD
Holiday lights are one of the many splendid spectacles of the holiday season, and will delight your family and friends. Two area holiday light shows are located in Cannonsburgh Village and Cheekwood.
The Holiday Lights at Cheekwood boasts a one mile walking path through festive gardens adorned with holiday lights. You can even stop for a smores break or at the bar for your favorite holiday concoction. Tickets are sold for this event online, and the event begins before Thanksgiving and runs until after New Year’s Day.
If you aren’t up for walking through a Winter Wonderland light display, the Cannonsburgh Village light show in Murfreesboro is a great way to take in the beauty of holiday lights. Cannonsburgh Village hosts a Drive-Through Christmas Lights event on the first three weekends in December. Load up the car, play your favorite holiday tunes, and enjoy!
